Lars Nordin

Lars Nordin is said to have the world’s largest private collection of original pictures of Greta Garbo.

In the summer of 2016, “Bilden av Garbo” was shown at Fotografiska, Stockholm. Nordin’s collection was behind the entire exhibition. It was a great success with 100,000 visitors in two months. He uses this collection as inspiration in much of his creation.

Lars says: “I have produced about 100 abstract paintings, and have photographed 10,000s of images in my built-up image archive, which I constantly root for. I always start from my paintings, my illustrations, exciting graffiti or my photographs, that I then mix up with small original texts, various handwritten information (often taken from the back of the original images). Then I match this material with someone or some Garbo images from my collections that are processed in different ways to create a new work height and a new context.

The pictures of Per and Marie were photographed on Capri in connection with the recording of Crash, Boom, Bang, 1993. During the recording, they did not want to be disturbed by external photographers, instead they wanted a more family atmosphere. As a close friend of Marie and Per, I was therefore commissioned to document for the press, upcoming album covers etc.
